Conger`s Jewellers - Ottawa Jewellery Store

Conger's Gemmological Services was established in 1981 by David Conger to provide jewellery appraisals in the privacy and security of customer's homes. At that time, most jewellery stores would ship customer's jewellery out of town for appraisal, because the skills needed were unavailable in Ottawa, due to a lack of qualified gemologists. Store customers would likely wait 4 to 6 weeks for their jewellery to return from an outside appraisal lab. With a small amount of advertising, Conger's appraisal service became a hit. Never before was there a jewellery appraisal service like this in Ottawa. Newspaper ads about the service also attracted the interest of a local jewellery store owners. By 1988, David Conger was providing jewellery appraisals for more than 30 jewellery stores in Ottawa, as well as some trust companies and Revenue Canada (CRA).

In 1992, Conger opened his first jewellery store along with his father Gerald, who had recently retired from the federal government as Assistant Deputy Minister for Manpower and Immigration. The two Congers focused on providing customers with high quality service. For the last 20 years the jewellery store has been located upstairs at Hampton Park Plaza at the corner of Carling and Kirkwood Avenues, just off the Queensway.

In 2011, the store moved to the ground floor level of Hampton Park Plaza. The customer base continues to grow as we concentrate on quality products and service. Our jewellery design and repair business grows steadily. Besides retail customers, Conger's Jewellers serves several insurance companies and their customers by providing a jewellery replacement service and insurance claim quotation service.

The staff includes Dina Cornelow (Jewellery Claims & Insurance Replacement) and Valerie Giff (Jewellery Designer).  Everyone is expertly trained and can answer all your jewellery questions. Customers never feel pressure to buy.

David Conger is a graduate of the GIA (1980) and is a recognized expert Gemologist. His education was at the Santa Monica campus of GIA, in residence. With 36 years in the jewellery business, he is an expert in the Ottawa area on diamonds and has appraised thousands of items of jewellery.
