Conger's Jewellers opened its doors in 1992, after 10 years of providing a jewellery appraisal service to several jewellery stores, trust companies, and security agencies in Ottawa. With a gemological diploma from the Gemological Institute of America, David Conger started his Ottawa jewellery store at Hampton Park Plaza, in the west end of Ottawa, on Carling Ave. He partnered with his father Gerry, who had recently retired from the civil service.

An early decision to make custom design a strong feature of Conger's helped to set the jewellery store apart from other jewellers in Ottawa. David decided to buy a state-of-the-art computer design work station. This allowed customers to watch and participate in the design of a piece of jewellery. A common request was to design a wedding band to match a customer's engagement ring, since many Ottawa jewellery stores focus primarily on the engagement ring design.

The early days were challenging because of a recession. Careful management allowed a slow and steady growth. Soon, Conger's Jewellers was a preferred vendor by several insurance companies in Ottawa, who were looking for Ottawa Jewellers who could offer top quality jewellery and excellent service for a price that would reflect the insurance companies purchasing power. Today Conger's is a respected jeweller in Ottawa and has helped many people with their jewellery claims.
