We worked with a couple who were looking to redesign some heirloom jewellery into a new ring for their 10th anniversary. They asked us to incorporate gemstones from some older items of jewellery because the items were very sentimental. A large pear shape blue spinel came from her grandmother’s ring and another ring had 3 diamonds.
We sketched up with a few drawings and this was the ring design she chose. In our discussion prior to designing, we learned that a wide band would be best and asymmetrical designs were preferred. We suggested that a few extra small diamonds would greatly enhance the design, so we showed designs with and without the additional small diamonds. It was determined that the extra diamonds made the design better. This ring was designed by Valerie Giff.
